New sport sedan concept named F700

The German concern Mercedes-Benz introduced its luxury sport sedan concept named F700 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Its extraordinary exterior design with radiator grille clear cut with horizontal chromed crossbars and vertical twin headlamps is complemented by the up-to-date engineering solutions.

With the technology DiesOtto combining controlled auto ignition, direct fuel injection and turbocharging a four-cylinder petrol engine with displacement of 1,8 l develops the same power as the 3,5-liter V6 and demonstrates the great fuel economy. Its fuel consumption makes up 5,3 liters of gasoline per 100 with emissions, including the CO2 level of only 127 g/km.

Another innovation is the active Pre-Scan suspension. In full conformity with its name it’s fit out with two laser scanners that "sense" the road ahead and hydraulically adjust the suspension rate to the pavement condition. As the Mercedes-Benz declares, this system makes “a run, gentle as a flight on the flying-carpet".

The interior design of the F700 is also notable for interesting solutions. With the considerable body length (5,17 m) there is enough space in the saloon for the special Reverse seats that offer passengers seating positions facing, or with one’s back to, the direction of travel.

It’s anticipated that the Mercedes-Benz F700 will be a pilot model of the update S-class that is due in 2012, the Automotive News reports.
